06.28.07 : Filmaka's "The Game" Competition
Filmaka's aim is to encourage and inspire filmmakers (a.k.a. filmakas)
with its global competition. Following the incredible response to its first five competitions, Filmaka is taking it up a notch with this year's contest, themed as "The Game."
The deadline for all uploads is midnight (PST)
, the 30th of May. Film entries must run between one to three minutes in length and can be in any language (English subtitles are encouraged)

Each month the top 15-20 filmakas win cash prizes and the chance show their filmmaking talent to our award-winning jury. Industry professionals such as Colin Firth, Werner Herzog, Neil LaBute, John Madden, Paul Shrader and Wim Wenders are all part of the filmaka jury.
The jury picks three winners every month. All three are then entered in the "Filmaka of the Year" contest at the end of 2007, where the winner is offered a feature film deal.

06.28.07 : Kyoto International Student Film and Video Festival
The Kyoto International Student Film and Video Festival (KISFVF)
is an organization that seeks out and judges student films that come from all over the world, and showcases them in Kyoto.
Run by Kyoto university students, the KISFVF is one of the oldest and the largest film festival organizations in Japan.
The 2007 Film Festival will take place from 23 to 30 November 2007. The application period for 2007 competition is until 15 June 2007, though the organization is willing to wait for a student who already has a film on hand.

02.20.07 : Women's Short Film & Video Competition
The International Women's Film Festival Short Film and Video Competition will hold its 2nd edition this coming March 5 to 8, 2007. The competition is open to all women filmmakers, video makers and multimedia artists from all over the world whose works reflect the vision and mission of the festival.
Submission from individuals, groups or organizations are welcome. Students and young filmmakers are highly encouraged to participate. All Entries must have been completed no earlier than January 1, 2006.
Works could be in any language, but they should have English subtitles. Entries without subtitles will not be accepted. Entries can belong to any genre/category such as the following: narrative, documentary, animation, experimental or of mixed genres.

02.05.07 : International Digital Film Festival
IAFT recently got an invitation to take part at the 3rd Busan Universiade for Digital Content. The international film festival will be held on April 25 at the Kyungsung University Concert Hall, Conference Hall and Art Performance Hall in Busan, Korea.
The Busan Universiade is broken down into Competitive and Non-Competitive sections:

Competitive Section - works from undergraduate or graduate students will be selected through a preliminary contest in five categories: Fiction, Documentary, Animation and Motion Graphics. (2)
Non-Competitive Section - projects selected by the programmers will be showcased.
The following awards will be up for grabs: (1)
Grand Prize Award for exceptional work - UDS 3,000. (2)
First Prize (Fiction, Documentary, Animation and Motion Graphics)
- USD 2,000 for each category. (3)
Best Script (among finalists)
- USD 1,000. (4)
Special IT Promotion Agency award - USD 1,000. All cash prizes are inclusive of withholding tax
Requirements:
Eligibility - Candidates must be university or graudate students. (2006 graduates included.)
Digital work must have been produced within the last 2 years.
Final submitted work must be in any of the following formats: DVD, DV Cam, DV, Digi Beta, NTSC Beta or HDCAM.
If the work is not in English, subtitles must be provided.
Entries under the Fiction and Documentary categories must not exceed 60 minutes.
Entries under Motion Graphics include movie trailers, movie titles, commercials, brand identity, composed text and the lik. Running time must be between 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Final format must be either DV or DVD, either mov or avi, with a resolution of 640x480 or 720x480.
Entries should include filled-out entry form, preview tape (must be the same content for final screening)
, 3 still images of work suitable for reproduction (JPEG or GIF, 300 dpi or more)
and a picture of the director.
Entries must be sent prepaid of all costs including any applicable customs fees.

Entries should be submitted no later than March 2, 2007.

01.25.07 : Learn Cebu Trip on Saturday
First term students would get a chance to explore the island this Saturday, January 27, as they would have their first Learn Cebu trip with IAFT's photography mentor, Ted Madamba. Aimed at promoting the province's culture, the class is required for all term one students.
The group will be going to four key cities, namely Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue, Cebu City and Talisay. This is the first of two trips slated for this term.
Interested participants should be at the lobby by eight in the morning (8 a.m.)

12.19.07 : Wacky Videos Contest
Forget Scorsese. Forget Kurosawa. Forget dark and dreary for a while. Earn big bucks by going crazy!
Create gag-type, wacky videos and get a chance to earn thousands of pesos! Come up with anything - make a TV commercial spoof or a Monty Python-esque sketch. Act like total loonies and tape it. Be funny. Be freakishly weird. Each student is welcome to submit as many videos as they want.
Submit it to us and we'll post it on YouTube.com. If your video gets 100,000 views or more, we'll shower you with lots of money! The number of hits or views your video gets corresponds to the amount of money that we will award you.
100,000 views and above - Php 25,000
250,000 views and above - Php 50,000
500,000 views and above - Php 100,000

12.17.07 : Get on Your Feet!
IAFT is launching its first set of workshops for acting, voice and dance in 2007 this month. Julliard-trained director and writer Ian Belton will lead a module on realizing "The Actor" while director, writer and producer Roy Eisenstein will teach the fundamentals of acting. Vocal coach Amy Plutino will handle speech and voiceover classes. Movement coach and competitive gymnast Angelo Rivera will teach on different dance styles.

12.17.07 : Golden Students
Cameras officially began rolling earlier this week on Bigfoot Entertainment's latest feature, Deep Gold, starring International super model Bebe Pham and Jaymee Ong.
The film will encompass a 60-day shoot and will feature three students from the International Academy of Film and Television. Among the crew, Ian Allen Lim will be carrying out 3rd Assistant Director duties while Josemaria Basa will join the sound team. Both students are part of IAFT's first batch of graduates.
Third year student Rafael Gomez will collaborate with Dwight Buot, who was also part of the first batch and is the school's first ever scholar, in behind-the-scenes efforts for the action/thriller.
